PART II. Please submit an informal essay describing how you teach writing or use writing as a means of learning in your classroom or subject. (Maximum two pages, double-spaced) Send as an attachment in PDF format or copy and paste into an email to Karen Hamlin. (Be sure and put your name on your paper!)
PART III. Obtain from an administrator a letter which pledges support to include the full-day release (May 30, 2005) for Writing Project meeting at Willamette. (Send separately via US Mail. Karen Hamlin - Oregon Writing Project - 900 State Street, Salem Oregon 97301) Please include with your application an administrator letter of support that stipulates that time will be set aside for you to make an OWP presentation to you colleagues at school early in the Fall of 2005. We will talk in detail during the Summer Institute about this short presentation--it may be a version of your summer presentation.
PART IV. Design a preliminary proposal for a 50 - minute teaching demonstration based on a successful lesson you have taught in your classroom. (One page, double-spaced)
PART V. Finalists will be interviewed beginning approximately mid-April, 2005. Questions will touch on your short essay, your writing interests and concerns, your philosophy of teaching writing, your proposed teaching demonstration, and your desire to work in collaboration with others during the Institute.
