How'd They Do That?
The "Weird Al" Yankovic-style parodies were made possible with two software programs: MetaSynth and MetaTrack, (U&I Software) MetaSynth is a program which allows the user to paint sounds and melodies. MetaTrack mixes these sounds and adds special effects. I arranged the music for each of the parodies previous to each class. Students had between 40 and 50 minutes to write new sets of lyrics and to digitally record them into an iMac which I brought to each site. When I returned home I mixed the singing with the music. When the project was completed the songs were burned on music CD's and included in the final anthology. |
